SHIMOGA: A gang of persons attacked its rivals Lav and Kush, brothers, here on Monday, the police said. The latter died of injuries while the former was shifted to Manipal Hospital.

The two were attacked around noon in front of an automobile shop on Sagar Road, the police said.

Kush (38) in an effort to escape from the gang entered the automobile shop but he was chased and done to death, the police said. Lav, who also followed his brother into the shop, was caught by the gang and assaulted.

He was taken to the Mcgann Hospital here from where he was later shifted to Manipal Hospital.

It was stated that the assailants fled in a car. A weapon used in the crime was found at the spot.

It was stated that the brothers were waiting near a garage where they had left their car for repairs when gang attacked them.

The police said Lav and Kush were involved in several crimes, including murders, dacoity and extortion of money in the last 15 years.

Superintendent of Police Arun Chakravarthy and Additional Superintendent of Police Siddramappa visited the spot.
