Toll opposed

The Bangalore Lorry and Tempo Drivers Union has opposed the State Government’s proposal to collect toll at State highways. In a release, union president K.N. Umesh and vice-president R. Manjunath said that the State was already getting revenue from sales tax on vehicles and road tax. Levying additional tax or toll would only be passed on to consumers. The union threatened to stage protests in front of toll gates in the State if the government does not drop the proposal. — Staff Reporter
