Protest against attack on headmaster

Kolar: Government primary school teachers in Bangarpet taluk boycotted work on Friday to register their protest against the alleged attack on a headmaster of a government primary school at Bethamangala in the district recently over elections to the SDMC.

Hundreds of teachers took out a procession in Bangarpet seeking protection to teachers and action against the culprits.

BPCL wins tender

BANGALORE: Bharat Petroleum Corporation on Thursday announced that it has been awarded a tender for "Into-Plane Refuelling service" at the International airport at Devanahalli. The corporation will take up the project with ST Airport services, a Singapore based aviation fuel logistics company. The two companies had jointly bid for this in A joint venture format of 50 per cent equity each. The joint venture is to provide world class refuelling services to domestic and international airlines at the new airport. The agreement will be on for 10 years and could be extended, the release said. Staff Reporter

NHRC seeks report

NEW DELHI: The National Human Rights Commission has sought a report from the Chief Secretary and Director-General of Police, Karnataka and the Superintendent of Police, Gulbarga, on an incident where a person was reportedly tortured by the policemen at Surpur in Gulbarga district. Taking suo motu cognisance of a newspaper report, the Commission said the incident raises serious issue of violation of human rights. Special Correspondent
