Patient safety is a joint effort involving every healthcare provider in the operating room, including surgeons, nurses and anaesthetists. Incorrect procedures or mishaps in surgery might prove to be dangerous. To standardise anaesthesia procedures and ensure better patient care, Fortis Hospitals has brought out a booklet, “Protocols in Anaesthesia”, a compendium of anaesthesia protocols.

Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde released the booklet recently. It has been compiled by a team of doctors headed by Murali Chakravarthy from the Department of Anaesthesia, pain relief and critical care at the hospital.

“We want to ensure that the patients' surgical and anaesthetic experience will be safe during the procedure,” said Dr. Chakravarthy.
