The State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party will submit the final list of probable candidates for the Lok Sabha polls to party national president Rajnath Singh during his visit to the State on February 26, the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has said.

He told presspersons at Kotnur D village on the outskirts of Gulbarga city on Saturday that one name each had been proposed for 25 constituencies. The former Chief Minister was here to conduct bhoomi puja for putting up a stage for a public meeting to be addressed by the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on February 28.

The central leadership would finalise the candidates by the month-end, he added.

Mr. Yeddyurappa said the State unit of the BJP would hold a convention of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes at Tumkur on February 23 and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan would address it.

Mr. Yeddyurappa alleged that the law and order situation in the State had collapsed and the economy was on the verge of bankruptcy.

The government was not releasing funds for developmental works and the budgetary works had come to a standstill. He expressed the confidence that the party would win at least 20 Lok Sabha seats in the State.

BJP state secretary Shivanand Kallur, the former Minister Revu Naik Belamagi, and Dattatraya Patil Revoor, Gulbarga South MLA, were present.
