JD(S) for public debate on BMIC project

JD (S) activists take out protest rally in Hassan

‘People of the State have every right to know who is misleading them’

HASSAN: Janata Dal (Secular) activists on Wednesday alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party workers were trying to disrupt the law and order situation in the State by staging protests against JD (S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda for his remarks against the Chief Minister.

The JD (S) activists, led by district unit president of the party H.K. Javare Gowda and the former Minister H.K. Kumaraswamy, staged a protest against the BJP Government here.

Earlier, a large number of party workers took out a protest rally from the Hemavathi statue to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Addressing the agitators, Mr. Javare Gowda said that there should be a public debate on the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project being executed by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE). People of the State had every right to know whether Mr. Deve Gowda was misleading them or was it Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, he said.

He said that Mr. Deve Gowda, Mr. Yeddyurappa and Advocate General Ashok Haranahalli should participate in the debate. Mr. Javare Gowda said that Mr. Deve Gowda had expressed regret for his remarks. But BJP workers were still protesting against the issue. Indirectly, they were provoking JD (S) activists to respond, he said.

Appeal

“I appeal to the BJP leaders to end such provocative protests,” Mr. Javare Gowda said.
