SHIMOGA: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise a State-wide protest demonstration on Monday against the “step-motherly” treatment to the State by the Centre in the distribution of fertilizers. Addressing presspersons here on Sunday, president of the district unit of the BJP Girish Patel said that the party workers would stage dharna in front of the offices of deputy commissioners and tahsildars. They would stage “rasta roko” as part of the protest and submit memorandums addressed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urging him to ensure adequate supply of fertilizers to the State. He said that the State Government could not be held responsible for the problem arising out of the scarcity of fertilizers. Though the Centre had promised to send 1.40 lakh tonnes of fertilizers by June 20, only 40 per cent had been received.
