Sadananda Gowda says harsh decisions will be taken at meeting

MANGALORE: President of the State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) D.V. Sadananda Gowda reiterated on Monday that the party would take “harsh decisions” against those MLAs and MPs who made open statements against the party.

Addressing party workers on the occasion of the former MLA K. Padmanabha Kottari taking over as president of Dakshina Kannada unit of the party, Mr. Gowda said that the BJP had an image that it was a party with discipline. But some responsible MLAs and MPs had tarnished the image by giving open statements against the party. He said they had crossed their limits. If they were testing the party’s tolerance, he would not hesitate to take “harsh decisions”. He said the legislature meeting of the party, to be held in Bangalore on Tuesday, was a forum where the MLAs could discuss their grouse in the presence of Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa. The differences could be resolved at the meeting. Mr. Gowda said that he has already spoken to those MLAs who gave open statements.

To a query by presspersons, Mr. Gowda said that making M.P. Renukacharya the Minister for Excise was the party’s decision.
