The former Deputy Chief Minister K.S. Eshwarappa has said that the election committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party State unit will meet in Bangalore on Monday to finalise the names of candidates for the byelections to the Mandya and Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha seats. The BJP will contest both the seats and the process of selection of candidates has commenced. The approval of the party’s central leaders will be sought for the names finalised by the election committee, he told presspersons here on Sunday after offering “bagina” to the Tunga. To a query, Mr. Eshwarappa reiterated that the party central leaders will take a decision on the re-entry of the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to the party. Asked whether he had objections to Mr. Yeddyurappa’s re-entry, Mr. Eshwarappa said that “the party central leaders have instructed us not to issue public statements on the issue. The party State unit will abide by the decision taken by the central leaders on Mr. Yeddyurappa’s re-entry.” — Staff Correspondent
