1,000 activists to participate in ‘Bangalore Chalo'

Party to seek more grants for Hubli and Dharwad

HUBLI: The Hubli-Dharwad Mahanagara Zilla unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a signature campaign in the twin cities from April 21 to 28 against increasing prices of essential commodities.

President of the unit Mahesh Tenginakai told presspersons here on Thursday that through the campaign, the party wanted to raise awareness among the people on the “wrong” policies of the Union Government which led to price rise.

He said as part of the campaign, the party would stage rasta roko for two hours across the State in April. Mr. Tenginakai said the party would organise “Bangalore Chalo” on April 5 and “Delhi Chalo” on April 21.

The unit would mobilise 1,000 activists from the twin cities. To a query on the contribution of the BJP Government to price rise, Mr. Tenginakai said MLAs and ministers from his party would take up the issue at the party-level. Mr. Tenginakai said the unit, in association with local MLAs and Minister Jagadish Shettar, would take up the issue of additional grants for the development of Hubli and Dharwad with the Government.

He said candidates for the posts of chairmen of various government boards and corporations would be shortlisted in the next three months.
