The general body meeting of the Gulbarga Zilla Panchayat was adjourned here on Saturday owing to lack of quorum.

Out of the total of 63 members, only 25 were present. The required number of members to be present to conduct the meeting is 32. Newly elected president Srinivas Poojari adjourned the meeting owing to lack of quorum.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its supporting members stayed away from the meeting for unspecified reasons. The meeting was convened to discuss the annual action plan and the stock and distribution of seeds and fertilizer to farmers.

‘Not aware'

Later speaking to presspersons, Mr. Poojari said that he was not aware of the reason behind the boycott by the BJP members and said that he would hold talks with the Opposition leader Basavaraj Patil Naribol and other BJP members.

The BJP members were not available for comments.
