MYSORE: Most of the elected representatives of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took part in the bandh on Thursday despite the State Government’s decision to distance itself from it.

K.R. Circle was the epicentre of protest where a public meeting was addressed by S.A. Ramdas, political secretary to the Chief Minister, the former MLC G. Madhusudhan, and MLC Siddaraju. MLA H.S. Shankarlinge Gowda was seen leading a group of activists stopping buses on Hunsur Road. He led a protest with scores of activists on motorcycles going around mobilising support for the bandh.

Security was tightened in the city.

Mounted policemen were deployed at K.R. Circle to ensure that the bandh was peaceful.
