The Bharatiya Janata Party government has failed to protect the interests of farmers and the common man in the State, said the former Minister and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary K. Shivamurthy.

He was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Congressige Banni Badalavane Tanni’ campaign organised by the District Congress Committee here on Wednesday.

Mr. Shivamurthy alleged that BJP leaders had taken credit for development works implemented by the Union government under various schemes.

He claimed that no other party except the Congress had been successful in protecting the interests of the common man in the last six decades.

Mr. Shivamurthy said the Congress would give a good performance in the Assembly and parliamentary elections.

On Wednesday afternoon, the campaign was held at Holalkere taluk. Congress leaders appealed to the people to support the party in the elections.
