MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary on Tuesday said the Centre should recall Governor H.R. Bhardwaj as he had thrown all democratic norms to the winds.

He was speaking at a dharna organized by the district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), here.

Mr. Poojary said it was the Governor's duty to uphold the dignity and values of democracy.

But instead the Governor was bent on subverting them to score political points.

A black spot

“Mr. Bhardwaj's recommendation to the Centre to dismiss the State government when it is enjoying a majority is a black spot on democracy”, he said.

Ever since he was appointed Governor, Mr. Bhardwaj's favourite pastime was to harass the State government at every given opportunity. Mr. Bhardwaj had indulged in a misadventure by recommending the dismissal of the State government six months ago.

‘Wise decision'

The Centre had wisely decided against accepting Mr. Bhardwaj's recommendation.

President of Zilla Panchayat Katapady Shankar Poojary, BJP leaders Sheela K. Shetty, B.N. Shankar Poojary, Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, and Upendra Nayak were present.
