The Bharatiya Janata Party core committee — the apex decision-making body of the party — is meeting in Bangalore on January 16.

Among other things, the meeting is expected to take stock of political developments in the State besides discussing various schemes to be included in the State budget to be presented by Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, selection of candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections and poll-preparations.

Curiosity

The meeting has arisen curiosity in political circles as it is being held at a time when Karnataka Janata Paksha leader B.S. Yeddyurappa has threatened to take a call on bringing down the BJP government some time around January 15.

Interestingly, the core committee will again meet on January 20 when the party central leader and key-strategist Arun Jaitley will arrive in Bangalore.
