A large number of Bharatiya Janata Party workers, including councillors, took out a rally here on Tuesday in protest against Governor H.R. Bhardwaj sending a special report to the Centre inimical to the B.S. Yeddyurappa-led Government.
In a memorandum addressed to the President, the protesters have stated that the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) were envious of the performance of the Chief Minister and, hence, were trying to destabilise his government.
The Governor was unnecessarily trying to destabilise the Government, which enjoyed a majority in the Assembly, they said and termed the Governor's move unconstitutional. Appealing to the President not to honour the Governor's recommendation, they said that any action in this regard should be within the framework of the Constitution.
The protesters accused the United Progressive Alliance Government of making several similar attempts in the past.
They have warned that the agitation would be intensified if any attempt was made to destabilise the Government. Guttiganur Virupakshagowda, president of the district BJP unit; Parvathi Indushekar, Mayor; and Sashikala, Deputy Mayor; were present.
