The Legislative Assembly on Wednesday passed the Karnataka Land Revenue (Amendment) Bill 2012, for regularisation of houses constructed without authorisation on government lands prior to January 1, 2012, subject to certain conductions, in rural areas.
The applicants should submit proof for having constructed the dwelling prior to January 1, 2012. Deputy Chief Minister K.S. Eshwarappa, who also holds the Revenue portfolio, said the area occupied by the built-up house or built-up area up to 2,400 sq ft, whichever is less, would be regularised in rural areas.
Wage Bill passed
The Legislative Council on Wednesday passed the Karnataka Daily Wage Employees Welfare Bill 2012, for providing better welfare to the daily wage employees working for more than 10 years in various establishments. It also aims to give them minimum security of tenure, better wages and social security on termination from their long tenure in public service.
