Farmers in Bidar celebrated Pola, the festival during which cattle are worshipped, on Thursday. Women of Gowli Galli in the old city cleaned the bulls, cows and buffaloes, decorated them and performed pujas. Teams of young people then took the cattle out on to the road and ran along with them for some distance. One team ran from Chowbara to Siddi Taleem and another from Gawan Chowk to Chowbara. While farmers in other taluks celebrate Pola on the new moon day after Shravana, residents of Gowli galli celebrate it on Padava during Diwali.
