Bangalore: Urging the Union and State Governments to fulfil their demands, activists of Joint Committee of Trade Unions made an attempt to hold an agitation on Mahatma Gandhi Road here on Thursday.

However, the police prevented them from staging the agitation in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue as prohibitory orders were in force.

Following a call from the Central trade unions, members of BMS, INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, AICCTU and UTUC assembled in front of the statue and shouted slogans.
