Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara on Thursday criticised Chief Minister B.S.Yeddyurappa for his decision to provide money to schoolchildren instead of bicycles.

Addressing party leaders here, Dr. Parameshwara urged that only bicycles should be given. Mr. Parameshwara criticised the hike in the power tariff before the presentation of the budget.

He said that a convention of Youth Congress workers would be held next month and AICC general secretary and MP, Rahul Gandhi, would participate in it. He said that all senior leaders had been invited to a meeting, here on February 5 for a discussion on the performance of the party candidates in the ZP and TP polls.

Senior leaders such as Oscar Fernandes, Siddaramaiah, Motamma, B.K. Hariprasad, C.K. Jaffer Sharief, M.V. Rajasekharan and D.K. Shivakumar attended the meeting.
