The Bhramara Trust, established in memory of scientist Y.T. Thathachari, will present G.T. Narayana Rao Award to flautist Vamshidhar and Bhramara Award for Lifetime Service to society to retired chemist and consumer rights activist C.V. Nagaraj at a function at Alwar Kala Bhavan on Saturday.

Suttur seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami will be present on the occasion. General Secretary of Sri Krishna Gana Sabha – Chennai Y. Prabhu will preside over the function and vidwan H.S. Sudheendra will be the guest of honour, said a release.

Vamshidhar, who hails from a family of musicians. He is the great grandson of Asthana Vidwan M. Venkatesha Iyengar, an exponent in Veena and flute. He learnt the art from his grandfather V. Desikachar, a flautist par excellence. He has won several awards including Ananya Prathibha Puraskar.

C.V. Nagaraj led a crusade against food adulteration and pollution. He created awareness among the people about the harmful effects of food adulteration and how to detect it. He has given 1,855 demonstrations showing simple ways to check whether food is adulterated and has been a consumer rights activist.

He has won several awards earlier.
