Karwar: Bhatkal police on Friday denied that they had arrested any person with terrorist links on Thursday night and said that the Kerala police might have arrested him.

There was a rumour that a man called Cyril Mathew (30) who hailed from Kottayam, Kerala, was arrested in Bhatkal by the Karnataka police for allegedly possessing the explosives. He was arrested for his involvement in the Bangalore blast, it was said. When contacted, Vedamurthy, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bhatkal, denied that the Bhatkal police had arrested any such person.

He said the Kerala police might have arrested someone but he was not aware of the details as the Kerala police were yet to inform the Bhatkal police about the developments. Raman Gupta, Superintendent of Police, Uttara Kannada was not available, for comments.
