Bhardwaj lauds government

Governor H.R. Bhardwaj has appreciated the steps taken by the State government in providing protection to the people of the northeast residing in Bangalore and other parts of the State.

Speaking to presspersons after presenting the Nirmal Gram Puraskar at the Raj Bhavan on Saturday, the Governor said that there was no need to panic as the situation was under control in the State.

“There is no need to panic and flee from Karnataka,” he said, adding that the government was sincere in handling the situation.

“People of the northeast are loved by the people of Karnataka. Our country is very vast, and therefore problems do arise,” the Governor said.

The police arrested eight persons in connection with the attack on people from the northeast. Rapid Action Force has been deployed in sensitive areas to maintain peace and prevent untoward incidents in the city.

On the appointment of Lokayukta, Mr. Bhardwaj said that owing to differences among leaders who need to be consulted on the issue it had got delayed.
