Kisan Khet Mazdoor Congress, a frontal organisation of the Congress, has urged the State government to enforce the arecanut revival package announced by the Centre “in a better way”.

Sachin Mega, vice-president of the organisation, told presspersons here on Friday that many arecanut growers in Dakshina Kannada, who had been affected by yellow leaf disease, had been denied the package announced by the Centre as per the Gorakh Singh report.

Mr. Mega said the Centre was providing a compensation of Rs. 6,000 per acre and a maximum of Rs. 30,000 per grower. Mr. Mega said the mazdoor Congress had been urging the Centre to raise the compensation money to Rs. 1.2 lakh.
