HUBLI: A Hindi play, “Dus Me Se Ek”, which is based on the Mumbai blasts, presented by Mahalakshmi Workshop of Western Railway, has won the “Best Drama Award” in the Inter Railway Drama Competition “Manchan-09”. The competition concluded in Hubli on Wednesday.
A Bengali play, “Dahoon”, staged by South Eastern Railway team, received the second prize in the competition, while the West Central Railway team, which presented a comedy, “Pet Puja Param Puja” (Hindi), won the Jury’s Special Award.
The best actor award went to Preet Torani of the “Dus Me Se Ek” team and to Sanjay Khanna of “Pet Puja Param Puja” team.
As many as 12 prizes for best drama, best actor, best director and best stage arrangement and other categories were given away.
The three-day all-India event hosted by the South Western Railway was held at Sawai Gandharva Hall in Hubli, saw the participation of 22 teams in the country.
During the valedictory ceremony on Wednesday, all the three award-winning plays were staged again. General Manager of South Western Railway Kuldeep Chaturvedi and president of SWRWWO Kalpana Chaturvedi gave away the awards.
Judges for the event Prakash Garuda and Ravi Kulkarni were honoured by Mr. Chaturvedi. Chief Personnel Officer of South Western Railway N. Swaminathan proposed a vote of thanks. Nearly 300 artistes participated in the event.
