Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar will inaugurate the two-day Veer Rani Belwadi Mallamma Utsav at Belwadi in Bailhongal taluk on February 28 at 6 p.m.
The festival will conclude on March 1 with a valedictory function at 7 p.m.
Deputy Commissioner N. Jayaram, who released the festival banner, poster and other publicity material here on Monday, said the celebrations would commence with flag-hoisting a grand cultural rally.
In the evening, a laser show by the Information Department, folk dance by Omkar Dance Group, classical and film song programme by Archana Udupa, dance drama by Manjula Parameshi and her team, and several other cultural programmes would be held.
Next day, kabbadi (10.30 a.m.) and wrestling (2 p.m.) competitions would be held.
Also, a seminar on the history on Belwadi Mallamma’s life and significance in the freedom struggle would be held at 10.30 a.m.
Light music by Sangeeta Katti, yakshagana and other cultural programmes would be held later in the evening as part of the cultural programmes. The celebrations would conclude with a thrilling cracker show at 9 p.m., according to sources.
