The BJP leaders in Bellary district are in a quandary over the reported moves on “merger” and seat adjustment. “We are unable to chalk out a strategy to contest the Assembly elections,” said a district leader.

The vacillation on the part of the State BJP leadership in initiating disciplinary action against G. Somashekar Reddy, MLA, and Kampli MLA T.H. Suresh Babu, who have been openly supporting BSR Congress, on one hand, and B.S. Anand Singh, in-charge Minister of the district, keeping himself away from the ULB polls, has severely affected the image of the party. A senior functionary of the party, who did not want to be quoted, said: “We are pained over the inaction of the State BJP leadership.”
