Belagal Veeranna delighted with ‘Nadoja’ honour

“I am happy that the Kannada University, Hampi, has recognised my contribution to the fields of folk art and theatre by choosing me for the prestigious ‘Nadoja’,” Belagal Veeranna, practitioner of shadow leather puppetry, has said. Speaking to The Hindu , Mr. Veeranna (78), who has been honoured with several prestigious awards, including the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi award, the Gubbi Veeranna award and Janapada Sri, said that he considered ‘Nadoja’ as an honour for his achievements.

After the announcement that he had been selected for the ‘Nadoja’ award, Mr. Veeranna’s house in the Radio Park area has become a hub of activities as his friends, well-wishers and elected representatives have been coming to compliment him.
