Bangalore: The Bangalore Development Authority Commissioner M.K. Shankaralinge Gowda has suspended two persons "for dereliction of duty and for being part of fraudulent, illegal allotment of a site" to a retired government official. The two, Sulochana Joshi, superintendent, and Devanand, second division clerk, have been suspended pending a departmental inquiry.

According to the BDA, a retired Deputy Director of Prosecutions, J.M. Nijaguni, with the connivance of Krishnappa, an assistant in the Archives Department who was working in the BDA's record room, created false documents and claimed the allotment originally made to another applicant, at Banashankari 5th Stage. The genuine allottee had not made the payment to BDA within the stipulated time.

Mr. Nijaguni is alleged to have imposed himself as the genuine allottee and in connivance with the two BDA employees, taken possession of the site. The BDA has initiated criminal proceedings against Mr. Nijaguni and Mr. Krishnappa.
