Bangalore:In all likelihood, elections to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Council will be held on March 28.
The long-pending elections will be officially announced by the State Election Commission on Saturday. According to sources, the code of conduct will come into effect immediately.
The sources claimed that candidates may file their nomination papers from Monday. Counting of votes may be scheduled on March 30, the sources said and added: “If this is the calendar of events, then the State would have complied with the High Court directive to conduct the elections by March-end.”
The BBMP elections were earlier scheduled to be held on February 21.
However, the State Election Commission had called them off on January 29 saying it depended on the final take on the reservation of wards.
A fresh reservation list for the 198 wards of the BBMP was announced on March 3.
