The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike's (BBMP) multi-storeyed parking facility on J.C. Road has been found converted into a workshop. During an inspection on Wednesday, Mayor Sharadamma found to her dismay that mechanics had set up shop there, repairing cars on the top floor of the parking facility.

She took the officials to task for allowing the mechanics misuse the civic authority's property and sought the interlopers' eviction.

Earlier, she inspected the tardy progress of K.R. Market pedestrian subway construction along with area MLA Hemachandra Sagar, Deputy Mayor S. Harish and Ruling Party Leader B.R. Nanjundappa. She set a deadline for the contractors' engineers to complete the work by the yearend.

Garbage strewn around

Mr. Nanjundappa took the BBMP officials to task for the irregular garbage clearance from the K.R. Market area. He was annoyed to find heaps of garbage lying near the mosque and below the flyover.

Mr. Sagar urged the Mayor to blacklist erring garbage contractors. Ms. Sharadamma and Mr. Harish were surprised to find that the BBMP had given licences to shops set up on footpaths in the market area and ordered their immediate removal.

Dharmaraya Temple ward councillor P. Dhanraj complained that though permission had been accorded to build a compound wall around the six acres of land earmarked for a bus stand in Kalasipalya, it had not been done.

He said failure to do so could end in the land being encroached. Mr. Harish directed the BBMP officials to fence the area within a week.
