New branch of SyndicateBank inaugurated at Shiggaon

HUBLI: Water Resources Minister Basavaraj Bommai has said that banks play a crucial role in the economic and industrial growth of a region.

He was speaking at the inauguration of a new branch of SyndicateBank at Shiggaon in Haveri district on Saturday.

Mr. Bommai said banks should instil confidence in the farming community, small scale industrialists and merchants, by extending timely help. He hoped that the new branch of Syndicate Bank would take the lead in this regard.

Referring to developmental initiatives in the Shiggaon area, he said steps were being taken to set up food processing units and industrial units in three or four villages in the taluk.

‘Assisting people'

Assistant General Manager at the regional office of the bank in Hubli Shrikanth Kulagod said that with the inauguration of the new branch, the number of branches in the Hubli region had gone up to 51. It had around 2,300 branches across India and an overseas branch in London, he said, and added that the bank had been assisting people from all sections of society.


Mr. Kulagod said that an ATM facility would be provided at the new branch in another fortnight.

President of Matrubhoomi Krishi Seva Sangha Shrikanth Kulagod, Chairman of the Command Area Development Authority Somanna Bevinamarad and president of Shiggaon Town Municipal Council Parashuram Sonnad were present.
