Cooperative banks should brace themselves for competition with the nationalised ones, said H.K. Patil, president of National Federation of Cooperative Banks (NFCB), here on Monday. He was inaugurating the office of Awade Janata Cooperative Bank at Ichalkaranji following the merger of Hubli-based Navkalyan Cooperative Bank with Awade Bank. Mr. Patil said that 60 per cent of people in the country were still not covered by the banking sector. He urged the cooperative banks to cater to those neglected by the mainstream banking sector and provide them

services as per their requirement.
