Bangalore: The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), an umbrella of nine banking trade unions, has called for a nationwide strike on June 12. Union members held a dharna in front of the headquarters of Vijaya Bank on Thursday. UFBU Convener B.S. Ravindra said that similar dharnas were held in other places across the State. According to a press release, the demands are wage revision, introduction of the “pension option”, assurance that the banks would refrain from outsourcing work, and the appointment of the next of kin of employees who have died during tenure on compassionate grounds.
