Sanjeeva Naik is the prime accused

Police say 5.3 kg of gold yet to be recovered

Udupi: Superintendent of Police Pravin Pawar said here on Tuesday that the police had arrested one person in connection with the September 2005 burglary of the Koteshwara Vyavasaya Seva Sahakari Bank at Kedur village in Udupi taluk and recovered 700 gm of gold worth Rs. 9 lakh from him.

Mr. Pawar told presspersons that the police had arrested Pramod Raikar in connection with the case and recovered 700 gm of gold from him.

The prime accused in the Kambadakone Raitara Seva Sahakari Bank burglary case, Sanjeeva Naik, was also the prime accused in this case, he added. Pramod Raikar was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.

Of the six-kg gold stolen from the Koteshwara Vyavasaya Seva Sahakari Bank, 5.3 kg was yet to be traced, Mr. Pawar added.
