They are opposing ‘unilateral decision’ on bank merger

SHIMOGA: Bank employees staged a demonstration in front of the main branch of the State Bank of Mysore here on Wednesday to protest against the unilateral decision on the acquisition of the State Bank of Indore by the State Bank of India.

They protested against the merger move of the banks and said it was objectionable that the State Bank of Indore was being merged with the State Bank of India, though there was opposition to the decision.

‘Stop process’

They said that the merger process should not be continued and asked the managements of the banks not to take any hasty decision without consulting the employees unions on merger.

They warned that they would intensify their protest if the merger move was not given up immediately.
