SHIMOGA: The former Chief Minister S. Bangarappa and the former Minister K.S. Eshwarappa were among the 34 candidates who filed their nomination papers in Shimoga district on Monday.

While Mr. Bangarappa filed his papers in Shikaripur as a candidate of the Samajwadi Party, Mr. Eshwarappa filed his nomination in Shimoga.

Other prominent leaders who filed their nomination papers on Monday included the former MLAs Araga Jnanendra of the Bharatiya Janata Party for Tirthathalli, B.K. Sangamesh of the Congress and M.P. Appaji of the JD (S) for Bhadravati, Karianna of the Congress for Shimoga Rural (Reserved), the former president of the zilla panchayat Sharada Purya Naik of the JD (S) for Shimoga Rural (Reserved), the former Shimoga MP Ayanur Manjunath of the BJP for Bhadravati.
