The ban on sand mining in the Kali river in Karwar will be revoked within two months, Fisheries Minister Anand Asnotikar has said.

He told presspersons here on Tuesday that the State Government would introduce a new sand policy. The transportation of sand to the neighbouring State will also be allowed. A committee headed by Higher Education Minister V. S. Acharya had been formed to examine the issue, he said. Mr. Asnotikar said the sanction from the State Cabinet was required for the release of fund for the engineering college building in Karwar . The State Government had requested the Centre to solve the problem of the stone quarry owners.
