Balamuralikrishna enthrals music lovers of Mysore

MYSORE: Renowned vocalist, acclaimed poet and composer M. Balamuralikrishna enthralled music lovers with his electrifying performance at the Mysore Palace here on Wednesday evening. The concert was a treat for music lovers who were keen to see the maestro in person. He was accompanied by Mysore M. Nagaraj on the violin and T.A.S. Mani on the mridangam.

Balamuralikrishna commenced his concert with “Varna Amma Ananda” in Gambhira-Nata. The next number was “Bruhadeeshwara Mahadeva” in Kanada-Rupaka. He continued with “Palisemma Sharade” (Mohana-Adi).

His rendering of “Ganarasika” (Hindola-Adi) which was the main number, with alapane and swara leading to a tani avartanam received a standing ovation. “Kamalanabham Bhajare” (Kalyani-Adi by Muthuswamy Dikshitar) and “Shree Karunya” (Punnaga Varali-Adi) received a similar response. He concluded the concert with his own composition, a tillana in Behag.
