“Bimb Publication”, a local Konkani language publication, announced its awards dedicated to the memory of famous Konkani writers, which will be given at a special function on December 23.

Konkani writer and educationist Suresh Gundu Amonkar has been selected for the Jyanpithkar Ravindra Kelekar Award consisting a purse of Rs. 25,000 while poet Prakash D. Padgaonkar will get the ‘Lok Kavi Puraskar’ in the memory of Manoharrai Sardessai.

Poet R. Ramnath has been selected for the ‘Kavya Chetana’ puraskar to be awarded in memory of Dr. R.V. Pandit. Krishna Madhukar Sukhathankar would get the Shankar Bhandari Puraskar for humour writing whereas Sudha Kharangate has been selected for the Vijayabai Sarmalkar Puraskar for children’s literature.

“BIMB” monthly was launched in January 2002. These awards will be given at a special function to be held at ‘Dharm-Laxmi’, St. Lourence, Agassaim in north Goa from 6 a.m.

Well-known writer and Chairman of Goa Kala Academy Vishnu Surya Wagh will be the chief guest.
