Fulfil our various demands, administration urged
SHIMOGA: Members of the Shimoga Taluk Auto Drivers’ and Owners’ Welfare Association staged a protest here on Wednesday urging the district administration to fulfil their various demands.
The protesters said that the State Government had issued an order to provide Ashraya sites to autorickshaw drivers under the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme.
Likewise, applications from the autorickshaw drivers were being accepted in other districts under the scheme, they said.
They urged the district administration to ensure that the facility reached autorickshaw drivers in Shimoga district also.
They demanded that licences for private city bus services be cancelled and the services be replace by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus services.
They sought action against the erring private bus operators.
Earlier, the association members submitted a memorandum to the district administration at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
Association president G. Sudarshan and other office-bearers Syed Mujibulla, Muneshwara, Bhasha, Ramu, Kiran Kumar, Zameer, Dinesh and Nagaraj were present.
