: The Gulbarga City Autorickshaw Drivers’ Union called off its five-day strike on Friday. The decision was announced by the district administration after a delegation of autorickshaw drivers met Deputy Commissioner N.S. Prasannakumar.

Official sources clarified that no assurance had been given to autorickshaw drivers on the withdrawal of cases against some drivers in connection with the violence on Monday, and also about the unconditional release of those arrested.

During the talks, union leaders clarified that they had not demanded that the government withdraw the city services of NEKRTC and had only requested the authorities to regulate the movement of buses.

The Deputy Commissioner said the autorickshaw drivers’ demand of regulation of city buses would be discussed at the next meeting of the Road Transport Authority, and a decision would be taken after due consideration.
