Traffic police launch drive in Raichur
The Raichur traffic police began a drive here on Wednesday to enforce the order to display personal information of the driver information inside autorickshaws.
Traffic police Sub-Inspector Ayyanagowda flagged off the drive.
“Keeping in mind the safety of passengers, the Superintendent of Police has issued an order that every autorickshaw driver display his personal details prominently, including photograph, mobile number and licence number,” Mr. Ayyanagowda said.
The department has planned to attach laminated cards displaying this information in 200 autos a day and 1500 autos in total, he said.
He said the cards would also contain phone numbers of the police control room and the traffic police contact number.
“If an auto driver refuses to carry passengers to the destination they wish, drives harshly or behaves indecently, the passengers can contact these numbers,” he said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police M. Pasha, and Circle Inspectors Vinod Muktedar and Chandrashekar were present.
