Belgaum: The police arrested Jagdish Kore near Chikkodi town in the early hours of Friday and registered cases against him under Sections 307 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code for attempting to murder Prabhakar B. Kore, MLC. The police denied that the accused had surrendered.

Superintendent of Police Hemant Nimbalkar told presspersons here on Friday that a revolver, motorcycle and a cellphone had been seized from the accused.

Jagdish, 48, a mechanical engineering graduate and a civil contractor by profession, told the police that he felt betrayed by his uncle, who had promised to make him a director of the KLE Society. There was a dispute over some financial matters too. He also felt sidelined, Mr. Nimbalkar said.
