Participants to meet Murugesh Nirani on January 16

Several beneficiaries of the Ashraya house scheme of Dharwad district have decided to take out a protest march to the residence of district in-charge Minister Murugesh Nirani on January 16.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the Ashraya scheme beneficiaries of S.M. Krishna Nagar, Sonia Gandhi Nagar, Lohiya Nagar and other localities. It was held under the aegis of the Dharwad District Ashraya Residents Federation here on Saturday.

The participants expressed their anger against the authorities who had failed to provide basic amenities in their localities.

They also alleged that a few government authorities were harassing the beneficiaries to repay the loan instalments immediately and they had also threatened them that if they failed to do so, they would be evicted from the houses and the same would be allotted to others.

However, some people with the help of officials concerned had changed the title deeds without the knowledge of the beneficiaries.

He said the federation would urge the Government to waive the remaining loan instalments of the Ashraya beneficiaries and also set up a separate fund for developing basic amenities in the Ashraya colonies.

Federation office-bearers Babajan Mudhol, Rajshekhar Menasinakai and others who participated in the meeting, said that they would bring the issue to the notice of the Mr. Nirani and submit a memorandum urging him to come to their rescue.
