The Rotary Mysore Mahaveer Artificial Limb Centre, in association with SOFTEN, a group of Infosys employees, has distributed 60 artificial limbs and two calipers to persons with disabilities at the Sri Ganapati Sachidananda Ashram here on Sunday.
The aids were given away free of cost.
Beneficiaries had come from various parts of the State, centre Chairman Sunilkumar told The Hindu . The centre had distributed over 5,700 limbs to the needy persons in the State in over 300 camps in the last 13 years, he said. The centre had also distributed mechanical hands in the past, each pair costing Rs. 5,000. The cost of one caliper is around Rs. 2,000, Mr. Sunilkumar said.
The limbs would last for about two years, he added.
