Bangalore: The Lokayukta police, based on a tip-off, visited the Bangalore South Taluk Panchayat office here on Monday and unearthed a racket of fake job entries in muster rolls and job cards in the much-celebrated National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

The officials inspected the documents pertaining to the project, the United Progressive Alliance Government’s flagship scheme, and booked cases against Executive Officer Ashwath Reddy and Subject Specialist Shashidhar of the taluk panchayat for allegedly manipulating documents.

Twelve persons, most of them revenue collectors, were working in the office when the officials visited it around 1.30 p.m. on Monday. They were busy creating fake entries.

The documents were inspected and witnesses questioned, a release from the office of the Lokayukta said here on Wednesday.
