MANGALORE: The website of the city-based Konkani Bhas Ani Sanskriti Pratistan (Konkani Language and Culture Foundation), www.vishwakonkani.org, was launched here on Saturday by former Chief Minister of Goa Luizinho Faleiro.

It was launched during the inaugural function of the World Konkani Centre at Shakthinagar. Besides giving a peep into ethnicity of the Konkani-speaking people, the website furnishes details about the history of Konkani language and the culture of Konkani-speaking people, the Konkani movement, the foundation’s activities and its future projects, and a gallery of photographs, among others.

Other links on the website deal with the objectives of the foundation, the people involved in its activities, literature, audio/visual section, news, Konkani-links and organisations.

There is another link on the web page which helps the browser in knowing how he or she can support Konkani.

On the World Konkani Centre, the website states: “The centre will be ‘a thriving hub of Konkani’, a place that the Konkani-speaking people all over the world can rightfully consider as their ‘home’. The activities of the kendra will not only be focussed on the preservation of the Konkani heritage but also on its active promotion among the Konkani-speaking people through the use of modern technology.”
