BANGALORE: The Karnataka Workers’ Union has appealed to the State Government to immediately come to the aid of thousands of workers in the State, who had lost their jobs on account of recession. Union general secretary E.K.N. Rajan told presspersons here on Friday that the State Government should come forward with an interim arrangement under which each employee, who had lost his job due to the global economic slowdown, was given Rs. 1,500 a month. This had done in West Bengal. The union will holdi a demonstration in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue on January 22. — Staff Reporter
