Governor H.R. Bhardwaj has said that the process of appointing the Lokayukta has begun and he is in touch with the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.
He wanted the process to be speeded up with the Chief Justice taking more interest in the matter.
Mr. Bhardwaj was speaking to presspersons on Friday after presenting the M.A. Thomas National Human Rights Award–2012, instituted by Vigil India Movement here.
Mr. Bhardwaj said as per a recent High Court order on the appointment of the Lokayukta, the Chief Justice had to recommend name/s of suitable persons. The Governor said he was also in touch with the Chief Minister and the consultation process had begun.
Earlier, Mr. Bhardwaj presented the M.A. Thomas Award to Jan Sahas, an NGO in Madhya Pradesh and Sister Mary Litty, the founder of Little Servants of the Divine Providence and Charitable Society, in Pathanamthitta, Kerala.
